About

You didn’t come to Cyprus just to exist here.

You came to belong.

Or maybe Cyprus was never a place you moved to — it was something you were born with.

A language.
A family.
A history you carry with you, even from far away.

And then reality hits.

People speak — fast, musical, alive.

At the bakery.
At the supermarket.
At the coffee shop.

You smile.
You nod.
You guess what was said.

Sometimes you get it right.
Often, you don’t.

You are not bad at languages.

You are not failing.

You are not the problem.

The problem is structural — not personal.

You were taught a version of Greek that does not reflect real life in Cyprus.

Because understanding Greek does not automatically mean understanding Cypriots.

What You Were Never Taught
What You Actually Need

You need the real voice of the island.

Not academic grammar.

Not pressure to sound “perfect.”

But clarity — step by step.

That’s why My Cypriot Self exists.

Not to drown you in grammar that doesn’t help you understand real conversations.
Not to pressure you into sounding “perfect.”
Not to turn you into someone you’re not.
But to give you what’s been missing all along:
A clear, structured path to understanding spoken Cypriot Greek.

This space is for you if…

You live in Cyprus (or plan to) but feel lost when locals speak

You want to understand everyday conversations, humour, and how people actually talk — not just textbook Greek.

You’re Cypriot abroad and feel disconnected from your roots

You want to reconnect with the way Cypriots really speak and feel closer to home again.

You’ve learned Greek but still don’t understand Cypriots

You’ve studied Greek before, yet real Cypriot conversations still feel fast, unclear, or confusing.

You want to feel confident, not awkward, in real conversations

You want to learn at your own pace, understand the logic behind words & phrases, feel safe asking questions, and build confidence step by step.

Understanding the dialect changes everything.

People stop switching to English.

Jokes finally make sense.

You stop pretending to understand.

You’re no longer treated like someone trying to get by —
but like someone who belongs.
